What a Los Angeles Move Actually Costs
How a Movers Best
Project Runs
Thank you for more than 2000 reviews!
Honestly — Who Movers Best Isn't For
- You're optimizing purely on price. We pay our crews well because we screen hard and train them properly. That cost shows up in the quote. If lowest price is the only factor, a budget mover will fit your needs better than we will.
- You expect rude treatment of service workers to be tolerated. Our crews are skilled professionals. If a job becomes hostile, we'll end it.
- The move involves biohazard exposure or anti-sanitary conditions. Hoarder-level situations, animal-waste-saturated homes, or conditions that pose health risks to our crew aren't projects we'll quote.
We tell you this up front because we'd rather lose the booking than waste your time — or ours. If none of the above describes you, we'd love to handle your move.
Los Angeles Moving — Frequently Asked Questions

-
Is Movers Best licensed to move in Los Angeles?
Yes. Movers Best is a licensed California moving company operating under federal USDOT #2930691 and California state moving authority (see Open Item #5 — confirm exact CPUC/state license numbers). We carry general liability and cargo insurance and are regulated for both intrastate and interstate moves.
-
What areas of Los Angeles does Movers Best serve?
All of Los Angeles County — the Westside (Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Culver City), Central LA and Downtown, the San Fernando Valley (Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Burbank, Glendale), the South Bay (Manhattan Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes), and the San Gabriel Valley (Pasadena, Arcadia). We maintain a local presence in Beverly Hills.
-
How much does a local Los Angeles move cost?
Local LA moves are billed hourly. Typical ranges: studio/1-bedroom $400–$700, 2-bedroom $700–$1,400, 3-bedroom $1,200–$2,500. Larger homes, luxury estates, and multi-day jobs are quoted after a virtual estimate. Every quote includes labor, truck, fuel, Double Drive Time, basic protection, and supplies. (LA rates — confirm, Open Item #4.)
-
Do you handle high-rise and luxury condo moves in Los Angeles?
Yes. High-rise moves in Downtown LA, Century City, and along the Wilshire Corridor require a Certificate of Insurance filed with building management, plus freight elevator and loading-dock time reservations. We handle those filings and scheduling as part of the move — it’s standard project work for us, not an add-on you have to manage.
-
Does Movers Best handle parking permits for an LA move?
Yes. Many Los Angeles neighborhoods require a temporary no-parking permit from LADOT to legally reserve curb space for a moving truck. We coordinate these permits as part of the project so your crew isn’t circling the block or risking a citation on move day.
-
Can you move homes in the Hollywood Hills or canyon areas?
Yes. Narrow, winding canyon roads in the Hollywood Hills, Laurel Canyon, and Bel Air often can’t accommodate a full-size moving truck. We plan shuttle logistics — a smaller vehicle to ferry items between the home and the truck — and scope access in advance so there are no move-day surprises.
-
Does Movers Best do long-distance moves out of Los Angeles?
Yes. Long-distance relocations are a significant part of our work. We move customers from LA across California and out of state under our USDOT authority. Long-distance jobs require a virtual estimate before pricing — we don’t anchor to budget numbers without a proper inventory walkthrough.
-
What happens if something gets damaged during my LA move?
Our claims team (Erika and Jack) opens a ticket the same day, agrees on a resolution, and processes a refund or repair. Default carrier valuation is $0.60 per pound per item under federal moving regulations, with upgraded valuation available on request. Our internal goal is for the customer to still want to use us next time.
